Tucibi: The Drug Of High Society

Tucibi, far from being a new designer drug, was already very popular in the 1980s. Its effects generate psychotic behaviors and are highly harmful substances.
Tucibi: the drug of high society

Tucibi is called “the drug of high society” because of its high cost.  It is also known by other names such as “Venus”, “Erox”, “Nexus”, “MFT”, “pink cocaine” and several others. Actually its original name is 2C-B and so it is registered in the narcotics classifications. However, that name was given to him by English speakers and when this nomination was Spanishized, the name Tu-ci-bi was born.

It is mentioned as a new drug, but in reality its origins date back to 1974, when the formula was created by the controversial pharmacist Alexander Shulgin in a California laboratory. Now, it is not true that it was invented in Germany, as many claim.

The Tucibi is a designer drug. This means that it can be prepared or synthesized in a laboratory, based on chemical substances, that is, not natural ones. This differentiates them from other drugs based on natural plants, such as marijuana or cocaine.

The history of Tucibi

Tucibi became popular during the 1980s, a time when various synthetic drugs also began to become fashionable. In 1985 “Ecstasy” was declared an illegal drug. This gave Tibuci a boost. Finally, in 1994 2C-B was also outlawed in the United States. Little by little its use became illegal in the rest of the world. At that time it was better known as “Nexus”.

Starting in 2004, this illegal drug began a new boom phase , this time in Latin America. It was widely consumed in Mexico and from there it was imported to Colombia two years later. The 2C-B entered the coffee country through Medellín. A man belonging to the lower classes began to manufacture it on his own, with a Creole formula. Everyone knew this subject by the name of “Alejo Tusibí.”

The Medellín drug traffickers managed to expel “Alejo” from that city. From there he went to Cali, from where he was also exiled by traditional gangsters. Finally he set up his business in Bogotá . There he was kidnapped and forced to reveal his formula.

The business was left in the hands of a great mobster named Urdinola, who was later extradited. Currently Colombia is the main producer of Tucibi. It mainly exports it to Europe, where Germany is the country with the largest number of consumers.

Mechanism of action of the Tucibi

2C-B (2,5-dimethoxy-4-bromo-phenylethylamine) belongs to the amphetamine family. Studies such as the one carried out at Purdue University, West Lafayette, in Indiana, show us that they are a powerful stimulant of the central nervous system. They are marketed on the black market mainly in the form of pills and capsules.

However, it is also in the form of a powder to inhale. It has different presentations, although it generally circulates as pink pills. Hence it is called “pink cocaine.”

How to consume

  • Typically, this illegal drug is consumed orally. It takes between 15 and 2 minutes to work and when it does, its effect lasts on average about 3 hours.
  • Everything seems to indicate that when it reaches the brain, it binds to adrenaline, norepinephrine and dopamine receptors.
  • The best-selling dose is 10 milligrams. In this case, we would be facing a low dose. Now, the moderate dose ranges from 10 to 24 milligrams, from here we would already be talking about an overdose.

Effects on perception and mood

The Tucibi has physical, psychological and secondary effects. Lower doses create a sensory-amplifying effect. This means that it exalts and increases everything that is captured by the senses. At higher doses, other effects appear, such as the following:

Blurred woman with anxiety
  • Tucibi is also a psychedelic drug. This means that it alters perceptual and cognitive processes, leading to illusions and / or hallucinations.
  • Also, the effects of 2C-B take longer to appear than in the case of other drugs such as ecstasy.
  • The main effect is visual and auditory hallucinations.
  • Perception of brightness and ripples in objects.
  • The urge to laugh, sometimes accompanied by feelings of unease and anguish.
  • Feeling of insight
  • Increased awareness of one’s own body.
  • Sudden changes in moods.
  • When the doses are very high, it is common for strong feelings of fear to appear, and even panic attacks.

Physical effects

Regarding the physical effects of Tucibi, the most common are:

  • Elevation of blood presure
  • Pupil dilation, blurred vision.
  • Dizziness
  • Insomnia.

There is not enough research about the long-term effects. However, it is known that prolonged consumption tends to cause severe symptoms of anxiety, depression and great difficulty sleeping. It is not known exactly how addictive it can be.

Due to the limited documentation in this regard, any sudden change in the body after ingesting the drug should be considered a medical emergency. It has been reported that some users when using high doses suffer from headaches, cardiac arrhythmias, tremors and even seizures.

Other information about the Tucibi

The effect of each dose depends on the characteristics of the person who consumes it. For some, 15 milligrams can cause hardly noticeable reactions. For others, this dose will be high and they will suffer from hallucinations. In the range of 14 to 24 milligrams, a difference of just 2 milligrams can represent a significant increase in effect.

Tucibi drug

In Colombia, Tucibi is called “the drug of queens and models.” This curious nickname was given because the combination of 2C-B and ecstasy has proven to be a powerful aphrodisiac. This is especially visible in women. In fact, before being banned, Tucibi was used by psychiatrists in couples therapy. It has been claimed that if a totally effective aphrodisiac is ever invented, 2C-B will be its main component.

Although it has been said that it is an elite drug, at its cost this may not be so true. Although its price is high on the black market, it does not differ that much from that of cocaine. This last substance causes less lasting effects, which requires a greater number of doses. From that point of view, both narcotics are priced similarly.
