The Relationship Between Eye Color And Personality, According To A Study

The relationship between eye color and personality is due, according to several studies, to the connection that exists between the biological components of the iris and the central lobe of the brain. This influence sets a trend, but does not completely determine someone’s personality.

In principle, it seems that we are going to talk about false news, however, it is true. A study, published in the journal Medical Daily , noted that there is a relationship between eye color and personality. He added that there is also a link between the color of the iris and the state of health.

The research was carried out by scientists from the University of Örebro (Sweden) and it is concluded that the patterns of the iris are determined by the same genes that make up the frontal lobe of  the brain. The latter is closely associated with behavior: hence the link between eye color and personality.

Another study, carried out at the University of Edinburgh, makes the same association between eye color and personality. This was led by Dr. Anthony Fallone and notes that the eye is neurologically closely related to the brain. He even specified that the eyes are “the only way to look at the brain from the outside.”

The following are the most striking data from these investigations.

Blue eye

Eye color and personality: blue eyes

Currently, all blue-eyed people in the world are known to come from the same common ancestor. This is someone who lived at one time, between 6,000 and 10,000 years ago, and who suffered a genetic mutation. This led to that particular eye color.

The scientists pointed out that blue-eyed people tend to be suspicious , especially about new things, and that they have a hard time opening up to others. They tend to be more cautious, competitive, and self-centered. Likewise, intelligent, strong and sentimental.

Gray eyes

They are rare and are considered a variation of blue or green eyes. There is almost always one of those shades present in those unique eyes. Studies say that they correspond to calm, modest, conformist and often stoic people .

Those with dark gray eyes are thought to be people who are particularly well-balanced or have two opposite sides of their personality, which are always in tension. People with light gray eyes have a hard time maintaining self-control  and are highly defensive.

The green eyes

Most people find those with green eyes more attractive than others. When it comes to the relationship between eye color and personality, those with green eyes tend to be more self-reliant, creative, and original. They usually work best under pressure.

These are people who seek greater freedom and want to please others, but at the same time they are strong. They are usually festive and passionate. Sometimes they can be somewhat overbearing, but also pleasant and cautious.

Hazel eyes

They correspond to those who have an undefined eye color, which sometimes look brown and other times look green. It appears as if the iris has two different colors, one of which is momentarily intensified at times. They are rare eyes that represent basically balanced people.

These people are usually imaginative, courageous and responsible, although with certain traits of selfishness. The hazelnut color also speaks of spontaneous, confident and independent people, although at times they can be unstable in their moods.

Brown eyes

According to a publication from the Carolina University in Prague, those with brown eyes are loyal and respectful people who, however, do not know about submission. They usually have a heightened sense of commitment. They are also practical, outgoing and lively.

In the journal Chronobiology International it was revealed that those with this eye color tend to sleep less or with greater difficulty. In general, they have great difficulty getting up early and find it difficult to enjoy a good night’s sleep.

Eye color and health

Some studies have indicated that people with light eyes have a higher tolerance for pain than those with dark eyes. Likewise, it has been found that people with light eyes are less prone to anxiety or depression, but the reasons why this happens are unknown.

On the other hand, everything indicates that those with light eyes are more tolerant of high alcohol consumption. Those with blue eyes are less likely to suffer from vitiligo and they, as well as those with green eyes, are more sensitive to the effects of UV rays.

These studies on the relationship between eye color and personality, like others like them, should not be viewed as absolutely conclusive. Although there is a correlation, this does not mean that it is determinative in the strict sense. Like other physical and genetic traits, they are one more factor, not the only one.
